To balance privacy with public curiosity, the McCaugheys reached an arrangement with Gamma Press in 2001. The idea was simple and structured.
Professional photographers would take an official picture of the children once a year on their birthday. That way, the world could see them grow while the family kept daily life mostly off camera.
