As the initial media frenzy faded, the McCaugheys looked for ways to step out of the spotlight. They wanted their children to have as normal a childhood as possible, despite their unusual fame.
Taking advice from another famous family with multiple births, they decided to limit media appearances. One key exception was a yearly public update on the septuplets’ birthdays.
